Embarking on an extraordinary road trip, twelve passionate individuals from Wanderlust Ghana have set out on a remarkable adventure, traveling from Accra, Ghana, through various African nations, and ultimately reaching London, United Kingdom. This philanthropic group of tourism enthusiasts has undertaken a challenging expedition spanning approximately 10,000 kilometers. In this article, we explore the exciting journey, their motivations, experiences in different countries, and their plans to raise funds for rural primary schools.
Embarking on the Transcontinental Journey
The intrepid team of twelve commenced their epic journey on July 23, 2023, from Accra. Driving through captivating landscapes, they passed through Aburi, Nsawam, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Dormaa, before entering Cote d’Ivoire. The adventurers continued their voyage, traversing Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, and Morocco, before reaching the outskirts of Monaco in Europe. From there, they planned to cross over to France and ultimately complete their journey in London by August 6 or 7, 2023. This ambitious road trip stands in contrast to the conventional stories of people traveling from Europe to Ghana, as these Ghanaian enthusiasts have boldly reversed the route.
The Diversity of Vehicles and Challenges Faced
The team’s journey has been fueled by their passion for exploration and philanthropy. Using various vehicles such as a Mercedez G-Wagon, Toyota Landcruiser, Toyota Tundra, Lexus, and a Ford, they have braved daily challenges, including consuming approximately 250 liters of fuel per vehicle. Throughout their journey, they documented their experiences through captivating videos on social media, highlighting the endurance of their vehicles and the resilience of the team.

Traveling with a Ghana Card and Visa Experiences
The group’s journey through West African countries was made possible with their Ghana Cards (ECOWAS cards). However, upon reaching Mauritania, they encountered a visa situation, having to pay 120 Euros instead of the standard 60 Euros due to alleged extortion by security officers. Undeterred, they continued their adventure, entering Morocco from Mauritania with a $10 visa on arrival. Subsequently, they obtained a Schengen visa to enter Spain and then proceeded with their UK visas as they moved closer to their destination, London.
Philanthropic Endeavors for Rural Education
Kwabena Peprah, the driving force behind this remarkable journey, emphasized that their primary goal is to raise funds for rural primary schools. With unwavering dedication, the team is determined to make a positive impact on underserved communities through its partnership with EduSpots, a philanthropic organization that establishes educational hotspots in deprived areas. Their journey is not just about adventure; it is about transforming lives and providing educational opportunities for those in need.

Motivation and Future Plans
During a radio interview with Accra-based Peace FM, the team expressed their motivation for embarking on this epic journey. Inspired by stories of others traveling from Europe to Africa, they decided to undertake this adventure as a fun activity while exploring other nations. However, their main focus remains on supporting their philanthropic plans and generating media attention to garner more support for their cause.

Challenges and Unforgettable Moments
The road trip has not been without its challenges. One of the most memorable experiences was in Mauritania, where the team faced adversity when police officers detained them for seven hours over a minor traffic infraction. Despite such encounters, the group expressed admiration for the warm hospitality of Senegal and Morocco, citing the beauty, cleanliness, and excellent infrastructure of these two countries.
Future Aspirations: From Europe to South Africa
Their adventure does not end in London. These spirited individuals have even grander plans to drive from Accra to Cape Town in South Africa in 2024, a testament to their unyielding passion for exploration and philanthropy.
As these philanthropic explorers approach the end of their journey, they look forward to engaging with the Ghanaian community in London, sharing their experiences, and pitching their plans to support rural education. The remarkable journey from Africa to Europe is not just a tale of adventure but also a testament to the power of collective efforts in making a positive impact on society. Through their determination, courage, and unwavering spirit, these individuals exemplify the true essence of philanthropy and the joy of exploration. Their story will undoubtedly inspire others to embark on journeys of discovery, with the aim of leaving a lasting legacy of positive change.
