AREEL Shorts & Animation Program Is Sets For November.

AREEL is an Annual International Cinema Award presented by Acheampong Magazine to recognize, honor, and celebrate the outstanding achievements of filmmakers involving African Creatives or African content through the AREEL Shorts.

The maiden edition received over 57 entries divided into different categories. Screening, titled  “AREEL Shorts & Animation” is done quarterly before our final screening and award show, “The AREEL”.

In 2019, when it began, “The AREEL” have been graced with breathtaking performances by casts including Micheal Ward, Jasmine Jobson, Prince Agortey, Benjamin Sarpong, Anna Roser, Bless Fortune, Fiifi Neizer and so many others. The presence of outstanding visions of directors like Anthony Nti, Tomisin Adepeju, Amartei Arma, Joseph Akwasi, and Jumic was embraced.

The AREEL Shorts and Animation is an independent platform for film enjoyment, networking, and discovering new talents. A percentage of the tickets sold are dedicated to supporting young talents to kick-start their careers in filmmaking.

The ’Actors Studio’, was created to develop and hone the craft of young actors. Each year, young actors were given the opportunity to interact with top casting Directors, Filmmakers, and Industry Executives.

The magazine has featured renowned celebrities such as cinema’s best Actors and Directors including Ama K. Abebrese, Joseph Otsiman, and Cynthia Dankwa (the lead cast of “The Burial Of Kojo film, Ghana’s first entry to the Golden Globes) and Casting Director Kwaku Boateng Ankomah (of the “Academy Talent Management & Casting Agency” that discovered Abraham Atta and other actors of “Beasts of No Nation”) and the last issues with Hollywood Actor Oris Erhuro; an International Award Winning British Actor and Producer (who starred in the popular hit “The Adventures Of Sinbad”).

Your hard work is not lost on us, and your project stands a chance of becoming a multi-award-winning film. The film will be considered in all the main categories, and selected films will compete for the “Audience Choice Award”.

  • Best Supporting Act.

Additionally, awards are given out to encourage better representation and increased inclusivity across the Ghana Film Industry.

According to the organizers, “we continue to be humbled and grateful for all the support and reviews we are getting from the generous readers. Five years after our registration, we are officially open to collaboration, partnership, and sponsorship. We will be honored to continue this incredible journey with you as we expand our support to outstanding filmmakers”.

It is happening live at Rose Tree Ahodwo, Kumasi from November 5th to 6th at 6 pm prompt. Let’s dare to make a difference in the African Film Industry
