In an interview with Willy Geist on Sunday Today, John Legend opens up about welcoming baby number three (3). The Grammy awards winner described the loss of his last pregnancy as a sobering experience and thus remains hopeful.
According to John Legend, “it’s always a bit of cautious optimism, especially when you’ve lost one before, but we feel excited. Our kids are excited, too. And it feels like we learn so much over the years through struggle and through the challenges that we face. And I think we’ve both grown so much, and we’re ready. We’re ready for a new baby in our lives”.
Chrissy first shared the news of their rainbow baby on Instagram in August, writing, “the last few years have been a blur of emotions, to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again”. She also wrote in her caption. “Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still.”
In 2020, Chrissy and John revealed that they had lost son Jack at 20 weeks of pregnancy. At the time, Chrissy reclined in from the truth to her followers saying she had a miscarriage. According to Chrissy, “I told the world we had a miscarriage. The world agreed we had a miscarriage. All the headlines said it was a miscarriage”. But at a speaking engagement on September 15, the cookbook author clarified that she had an abortion, a realization she says she had after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Chrissy said she felt silly that it had taken me over a year to understand that we had had an abortion. Chrissy and John are also parents to daughter Luna and son Miles.
